What's new

Sad, but these beloved Kava Forums...

I remember a post last year saying similar with a lot of good insight - it really is a shame as I see other social media regarding Kava ramping up if anything.

I still stand by my comment saying that forums in general are dying out in favour of other forms of e-sociality.

A further thing I note is that it shows just how much the Kap really upheld things socially with regular posts and comments, no matter how small or trivial; I think his activity really helped in prompting discussion and interaction. I sure couldn't do it to the degree he did and I say it with utmost respect and praise (I still see you pumping numbers Groggy don't worry!).

I'll still be around even if my kava consumption has decreased substantially (Last year of study make finances difficult!) and interacting where possible; KF is still an absolute haven for people seeking advice, help or primary literature analysis. Nowhere else have I seen people delve into kava at the depth that happens here.

I think part of the reason why there are fewer engagements is that info about kava (not necessarily correct info) is far more widely and easily available today than a decade ago. Also, many people use ai for simple questions.

It is a shame as these ai tools do not produce new knowledge but rely on accumulated knowledge and indeed wisdom that got donated or even generated in places like KF.

...are a lost cause. Strange, off-color posts. Not much moderating. Sad...
That post was deleted by me sorry it longer than it should have. I'm sort of the only one left moderating there forums. I don't always check in. @JohnMichael, if you have some extra time I could make you a moderator here, I mean this sincerely. we once had five people running this now it's pretty much just me.

No offense taken I never would expect to fill his shoes. I recently saw him back, and full disclosure I have stayed in touch with him. For Better or Worse, he is more focused on Kraptom these days. I do agree he held this place together. I would like to see him back but that's up to him.

I have never wanted to lead this place I just wanted to be a part of it. So time to come say hi again Jimmy, your digital flock misses you, @The Kap'n ::hugsmiley::

Edit; I miss those kava facts of the day!

I'm interested in things
I was reminded of this forum again by a news item today. I used to post here quite a lot during a certain period of my life, but not so much lately. Life, current events, other things seem more important. But I am glad that it is still here, and glad to still see some regulars around.

I did not realize the Kraptom issue with the Kap'n. Sorry to hear that. I've tried to stay in touch, but that would explain some things.

That's a bit simplistic and not true in all cases. If you ask ai about - idk, the best way to consume it for maximum effects, it will speculate based on the hard facts and give some insights that might not even be discussed online. It's also recently proven that ai can generate new knowledge, see Erdős geometry problem. I'm happy that kavaforums helped inform ai. What you and others have found out about kava will help to inform a whole generation of first time kava drinkers. The whole "kava is damaging the liver" nonsense has been stamped out already, as an example.

I much prefer this forum and peer to peer platforms to AI that is made by people who were funded by defense and intelligence and have an agenda including taking mass surveillance and psychological manipulation to unheard of levels. Not to mention the hallucinations and lies that AI is known to tell. There’s also AI psychosis.

Both are completly different things. Im just thinking there is only so much one can discuss. I mean it would be interesting if we could somehow understand why kava sometimes hits and sometimes does not and topics like that. There are also not many new kava drinkers, since it tastes bad to most people and is also cost prohibitive.
